Generate in the editor
Describe a material, an effect or a shape in plain words, and Facet builds it. Then keep talking to refine it.
Facet has three AI helpers inside the editor, each in the place where you would make that thing by hand:
| Helper | Where | Makes |
|---|---|---|
| Material | The sparkles in the Material panel header | A material, which can borrow maps from the texture library |
| Shaders | The sparkles in the Shaders panel header | A look from the effects, or a brand new effect |
| Genesis | The Genesis tile in the editor menu | An abstract 3D shape. See Genesis. |
All three are marked Beta while we keep improving them.
A conversation, not a command
Press the sparkles and a box opens with your conversation above it. Type what you want and press Enter. Shift Enter starts a new line.
The answer says what changed. Ask for more the way you would ask a person: rougher, more blue, less glow. Suggested follow ups appear under the answer, one click each.
- Type # to pick from the words that helper understands, such as material properties or effect names. They drop into your sentence as tags.
- Speak instead with the microphone beside the box.
- Conversations are kept for each project. The picker at the top switches between them, and + starts a new chat.
Every change the AI makes can be undone with Ctrl Z, like your own.
Materials
Describe the surface: aged brass, frosted glass tinted green, wet black rubber, a whisky bottle with a cut glass pattern. The material helper sets every value, and can borrow individual maps from the texture library, for example a cut glass relief on a clear glass.
Asking for a new material starts from a clean surface, so nothing from the last one carries over. Asking for a change refines the one you have.
Shader effects
Describe a look: a thermal camera, old VHS tape, newspaper print. The shaders helper does one of three things:
- Sets up existing effects that make the look, up to three at a time.
- Turns effects on or off when you ask, for example turn off the grain. Switching off keeps an effect's settings.
- Writes a new effect when nothing in the list fits. It gets its own tile, dials and place in the stack, and saves with the project. A project can hold up to eight.
It also answers questions, and says plainly when it will not do something, such as switching on every effect at once.
Daily limit
AI requests have a daily limit per account. If you reach it, it resets the next day.
Use your own AI instead
You can also connect Claude or another assistant to your account and build scenes from there, with the editor closed. See Connect your AI.
