Render images and video
Export a still up to 8K, copied straight to your clipboard, or a video of anything that moves.
Press Render in the top bar. Choose Image or Video at the top, set the options, and press the button at the foot of the menu. Facet remembers your choices for each project.
The render takes the shape of your canvas. Drag the canvas edges first if you want a square, a portrait or a wide frame. See The editor.
Grid, gizmo and light outlines never appear in a render.
Image
| Option | Choices |
|---|---|
| Resolution | 1K, 2K, 4K or 8K on the long side |
| Quality | Draft, Good or Ultra. Higher quality smooths edges, sharpens shadows and cleans up depth of field, and takes longer. |
Press Render image. The canvas shows the finished picture with two buttons:
- Download saves it as a full resolution PNG.
- Copy puts it on your clipboard, ready to paste into Figma, a slide or a message.
A transparent background stays transparent in the PNG.
Video
| Option | Choices |
|---|---|
| Resolution and Quality | As for images |
| Format | MP4, plays everywhere. WebM, keeps a transparent background. MOV, for video editors. |
| Length | 1 to 120 seconds |
| Frame rate | 30 or 60 |
Press Start render. Facet draws every frame on its own, at the size you chose, so the video is smooth even if your computer is not, and everything that moves is in it: effects, fluids, animated models, cloner turbulence. A progress bar counts the frames, and you can stop at any time.
MP4, WebM or MOV
MP4 and MOV can't hold transparency, so the background is baked in. Choose WebM for a transparent video. MOV here is the same video as MP4 with a .mov name, which video editors open normally.
Some browsers can only record what is on screen rather than draw each frame. In those, the menu shows Play animation while recording, and the video is filmed from the live canvas.
Plans
Rendering is part of Radiance. On Free, pressing Render shows what Radiance includes instead.
