Connect your AI

Plug Claude, Cursor or any MCP client into your Facet account, then build and change scenes by asking.

Part ofRadiance

Facet works as a tool your own AI assistant can use. Add one address to Claude, sign in once, and you can say add a glass sphere on a dark backdrop and watch it land in your project. It works with the editor closed, from any device, and anything it makes is waiting the next time you open the project.

Facet connected to AI assistants

The address is:

https://mcp.facet3d.studio/mcp

You will also find it in the app, with a copy button, under Settings, Facet MCP, and in the Facet MCP button in the editor's top bar.

Connect Claude

  1. In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and add a custom connector.
  2. Paste https://mcp.facet3d.studio/mcp as its address.
  3. Claude opens a Facet sign in page. Sign in if you are not already, and approve the connection.
  4. Ask Claude for something. It reads what Facet can do first, then builds.

The sign in page is on use.facet3d.studio, so company sign in and two step verification apply exactly as they do in the app.

Connect Cursor, VS Code and other editors

Clients that take an address and headers in a settings file, rather than signing in, use a token instead.

  1. Open Settings, Facet MCP, and press Make a token.
  2. Copy it straight away. It is shown once, and never again.
  3. Add Facet to your client's MCP settings with the token in the Authorization header:
json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "facet": {
      "url": "https://mcp.facet3d.studio/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_TOKEN" }
    }
  }
}

A token lasts a year. Treat it like a password: anyone holding it can change your projects.

What your AI can do

ToolWhat it does
facet_capabilitiesLearns every shape, the real range of every setting and the material presets. Your AI calls this first.
list_projectsLists your projects
get_sceneReads what is in a project
create_projectMakes a new, empty project
add_shapeAdds a primitive with a position and a material
update_shapeChanges a shape's size, position, rotation, scale or visibility
set_materialSets a material on one object or on all of them, from a preset or its own values
delete_shapeRemoves an object
add_cloner, update_clonerRepeats a shape in a grid, line, ring, over a sphere or scattered, and changes the layout
set_cameraPoints the view
list_environments, set_environmentChooses the lighting environment, the background and the studio light
set_sharingMakes a project private, unlisted or public
publish_project, unpublish_projectPuts the current scene live on its page and embed, or takes it offline
get_project_linkGets the editor link, and the page and embed code once published

What it cannot do yet

  • Import a model, an SVG or an image. Bring those in through the editor, then your AI can give them materials and clone them.
  • Generate a shape from a description. That is Genesis, in the editor.
  • Add animation, shader effects or Post FX.
  • Render an image or a video.

Your AI is told this, so it should say so plainly rather than try a workaround.

Safe to let it work

  • Every change can be undone. In an open editor, an AI change arrives within a second and Ctrl Z takes it back. Facet also saves a history snapshot before every AI change, whatever your plan.
  • It only adds to a scene. Things your AI cannot make, such as imported models, stamps, cameras, breakpoints and node graphs, are left exactly as they are when it changes a project.
  • It works as you. It can reach only what your account can, with your plan's limits.

Tips for good results

  • Ask for an environment whenever there is metal or glass in the scene. Without something to reflect, they render almost black.
  • Ask for a cloner rather than placing many shapes one by one. It looks composed, and 200 clones cost what one shape costs.
  • Ask it to point the camera when the scene is built.
  • Stronger models make better scenes. If results feel random, try a more capable model.

Disconnect

Open Settings, Facet MCP. Every connected client is listed with when it was last used. Press Disconnect beside one, and it can no longer see or change your projects. Anything it already built stays where it is.

Plans

Connecting an AI is part of Radiance. If your plan ends, connections stop working until it is back, and nothing needs reconnecting afterwards.
