Workspaces and seats
A shared space for a team's projects. The owner pays for the people who edit; people who only view are free.
A workspace is a folder of projects that a group of people share. Everyone in it sees its projects in the sidebar, and what they can do depends on their role.
Roles
| Role | Can |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything: manage people and seats, delete projects for good, delete the workspace. Pays for the seats. |
| Can edit | Open and edit every project in the workspace, make new ones, invite viewers. Takes a seat. |
| Can view | Open, look around and render projects, without changing them. Free, as many as you like. |
Making a viewer an editor takes a seat, just like inviting a new editor.
Make a workspace
Press the + beside Workspaces in the dashboard sidebar. A card asks for:
- A name.
- A mark and a colour, chosen from 33 marks and 12 colours. They are how you find the workspace in the sidebar, and the row on the left of the card shows it as you pick.
- The people, by email, each as Can edit or Can view.
If you are adding editors, a second step shows what their seats cost and what is charged today. One button creates the workspace and pays for the seats. Workspaces of viewers only skip that step.
The workspace is made first, then the seats are paid, then people are invited, so a declined card leaves a real, empty workspace rather than a half invited one.
Seats
Seats are counted per workspace, so you pay for exactly the team in each one. Each seat is priced like a Radiance plan and added to the owner's Radiance subscription.
To change seats, open the workspace's settings: the gear on its row in the sidebar, or Settings, Workspaces, Manage workspace. Press One seat more or One seat less, then Add and pay or Remove seats. Nothing is charged until you confirm, and changes are prorated.
If every seat is taken, make someone a viewer, remove them, or cancel an invite to free one.
Limits
On Radiance you can own 5 workspaces, each with up to 15 editors, and any number of viewers. Need more? Talk to us about Enterprise.
Projects in a workspace
- Anyone who can edit can make projects in the workspace and edit every project in it.
- A project's plan follows the workspace owner's plan. If the owner's plan ends, the workspace's projects become read only for everyone until it is back. Nothing is deleted.
- Deleted projects go to the workspace's archive for 28 hours, where any editor can bring them back. See Projects and the dashboard.
- Move one of your own projects into a workspace with Move to workspace on its card.
Leaving and deleting
From a workspace row's menu in the sidebar, members can Leave Workspace. The owner can Rename it or Delete Workspace.
One project, not the whole workspace
To show or hand over a single project without giving someone your whole workspace, share just that project. See Share a project.
