Genesis

Describe a shape in words and Facet builds it. Abstract forms, clusters, coils, lattices and fractals, ready to drop into your scene.

Genesis makes abstract forms from a description: blobs, chains, coils, rings of parts, lattices, cellular networks, strokes and fractals. It is made for the sculptural objects that hold a hero section together, not for photoreal models of real things.

Open Genesis

Open the editor menu and press the Genesis tile at the top. Genesis opens over the editor, with your scene still loaded underneath.

Describe a shape

Type what you want in the box and press Enter, for example a loose cluster of glossy blobs in pastel colours or a tall coil of chrome rods. You can also press the microphone and say it: speaking stops and sends in one press.

The stage moves aside for a conversation. Genesis answers with the shape and a line about what it made. Ask for changes the way you would ask a person: taller, fewer pieces, make it frosted.

Every shape is built from a short recipe, so asking for "that one again but taller" changes only what you asked about.

Adjust it by hand

The Shape panel holds the dials for the shape on the stage, named for what they do, such as Count, Spread, Twist, Taper, Bites and Looseness. The first dial, Quality, decides how smooth the surface is. The dials depend on the kind of shape: a coil has Turns, a fractal has Lobes and Depth.

The panel also sets the surface. Pick a finish: Matte, Satin, Gloss, Candy, Frosted, Jelly, Pearl, Metal or Chrome, with a colour or a gradient across the shape.

A change rebuilds the shape when you let go of the dial.

Bring it into your scene

Press the push button to send the shape to the editor. It lands on your canvas as an object, with its material.

Selected in the editor, a Genesis shape keeps its recipe, so the same Shape dials open instead of a primitive's settings, and you can keep adjusting it there. Because the shape is rebuilt from its recipe on every change, stamps cannot be pressed into it.

Conversations

Each generation is kept as a conversation you can return to. Start a fresh one with New generation.

Limits

Genesis uses AI, and AI requests have a daily limit per account. If you reach it, the limit resets the next day.
